Sedation Using Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide –
Dr. Bobby may recommend nitrous oxide (more commonly known as “laughing gas”) to help your child have a comfortable experience.
Nitrous Oxide is delivered through a mask, which is placed over your child’s nose.
Nitrous oxide can help relax your child quickly, and can help produce happy, joyous feelings. It is also painless to deliver and wears off in a matter of minutes. Before removing the mask, oxygen is continued for several minutes, to ensure the nitrous oxide is eliminate from your child’s body completely.
Sedation using Intravenous Anesthesia
Intravenous Anesthesia – When your child is unable to tolerate recommended dental treatment, then intravenous sedation is a wonderful alternative for safe and comfortable patient care.
Special time is reserved in our office with a trained dental anesthesiologist to carefully take care of all your child’s dental care in one visit. Special attention is taken to monitor your child’s breathing, heartbeat, blood oxygen saturation, and exhaled carbon dioxide. In this way, the anesthesiologist can ensure that your child is safe and sleeping comfortably.
Intravenous anesthesia is an extremely valuable tool when caring for our apprehensive patients, those with special needs, or children with extensive restorative care.
